What MGI is
MGI stands for „Marcus Graphics Interface".
MGI is a library for C/C++ programmers on Microsoft's 32 Bit operating systems Windows NT and Windows 95.
MGI allows you to create very easily windows for graphical output, without bothering about any window maintenance.
MGI provides a total encapsulation of the system complexity by using parallel running threads for the window handling.
MGI is used with pure and simple C code. You don't need any Windows programming to create astonishing, rotating 3D objects displayed in real Win32 windows.
MGI is used with console applications. You can still use the easy input and output functions without programming any Windows dialog.
MGI supports most of the 2D Graphic functions of the Win32 GDI (Graphic Device Interface).
MGI contains also a full 3D Graphic library based on the powerful OpenGL Graphic library from Silicon Graphics.
MGI is a powerful viewer of your 3D scenes. It offers you built-in 3D Control capabilities such as different motion, shade, draw and projection modes. These modes are accessible in an optional menu bar or on the right mouse button of your MGI program.
MGI allows different kinds of manipulations of the 3D scene with the mouse. You can rotate, walk through or fly through the scene as with a flight simulator.
MGI offers you comfortable dialogs for a intuitive handling of up to 8 light sources and viewing situation.
MGI is an open library. With C++ object oriented programming, you can create new object classes and build your own 2D objects with GDI functions or 3D objects with OpenGL.
MGI is as a Dynamic Link Library available for Visual C/C++ and Borland C/C++ environments.
MGI does not replace libraries such as MFC, OWL. MGI fills the big gap between the dusty DOS Graphic programming (BGI) and the professional Windows programming.
